Project Example 1 – Square Book

A square format that puts the artwork first.

This square hardcover book was designed as a showcase piece for an illustrator looking to collect a year of personal work in print. The 1:1 format gave us room to let each illustration breathe, with full-bleed spreads alternating against generous white space so the eye always has somewhere to rest. We developed a simple, modular grid that scales from single-image pages to dense thematic sequences without ever feeling busy. Typography was kept deliberately quiet so the artwork stays the hero, and the cover treatment carries a tactile, matte finish that invites people to pick it up. The final volume works equally well as a portfolio leave-behind and a small-run retail title.

Project Description

A self-published square art book pairing a year of illustrations with a clean, flexible layout system. We handled the grid, typesetting, and cover design, then prepared everything for a short print run.
